RESTORED & REVIVED
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit,
to sustain me.
Psalm 51:12
My First Car
M
y father Demetrakis (1933–1997) bought me my first
car in 1976.The car was an old second-hand white Ford
Escort Mark I. The car was originally manufactured
in about 1970. It had a 1.1 litre engine, rear-wheel drive, and
lovely black plastic seats. I used the car for work, to attend Hatfield
Polytechnic (where I studied engineering), and for pleasure.
Today, at the back of my home is a specialist car restoration
garage. The owners of this business are highly skilled restorers
and mechanics who restore classic cars. The garage has restored
a Ford Escort Mark I which was originally built 50 years ago in
1971. The restorers have replaced the engine with a new fantastic
reconditioned 2 litre Cosworth engine. Every aspect of the car has
been more than perfectly restored.
