W EEK LY WOR D FOR DAILY LIVING
the door to Christ and asked Him to come into my life by His
Holy Spirit. He did. Immediately on my return home, Kevin, his
brother Neil, and I joined a fantastic youth fellowship. Although I
was born again of the Holy Spirit, I was not baptised in the Holy
Spirit.
Next Step
In 1974 at our youth camp holiday, I began to pray for more of
God and particularly for His Holy Spirit. I waited in prayer for
days. My youth leaders prayed for me. Suddenly, one late evening
at the boys’ dormitory, as I was praying, the Holy Spirit began to
flood my being and heart. I was full of His joy and the Spirit’s
presence. I could not sleep because of the joy. I prayed, ‘Lord, take
some of the joy away so I can sleep!’ Something happened. I was
not the same. I found during the following weeks, months, and
years, an ability to share Jesus with strangers or friends, anywhere
and anytime. Many became believers and many still love and
follow Jesus today.
The baptism with the Holy Spirit and fire makes all the difference
to you and others you will meet. The promise of the Father to you
is the baptism of the Spirit. Jesus says:
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the
Holy Spirit to those who ask.
Luke 11:13 (NKJV)
The condition to receive is simple: just ask with a sincere heart.
Keep asking and waiting upon the Lord until He answers. The
Father is more willing to fulfil His promise to you than you will
ever know. Ask.
