You need not wait for a special service. Remember to repent of
any wrong ways. Confess any sin. Ask and believe. Find a place
where you can pray, or ask a Christian friend to help you pray a
prayer like this:
Lord Jesus, I thank You for dying on the cross for me. I give my
life totally to You today. I ask You to forgive my sin . . . [mention
particular things]. I renounce completely my involvement in . . .
[let the Holy Spirit bring things to mind]. I ask you now to give
me Your gift and baptise me with the Holy Spirit. I receive You
now, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit. You are welcome. In the
name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Spend a little time in quiet prayer, thanking God for His grace and
goodness. Open your hands in a gesture of receiving. If you have
asked and believed, God will keep His promise. We receive the
baptism in the Holy Spirit once, for all time. However, we need to
ask God to fill us with His Holy Spirit over and over again, every
day, as we face certain situations and tasks. The ‘formula’ is simple:
one baptism, many fillings, constant anointing.
The reason God anoints you is because He has other people in
mind. This experience will not solve your problems, but it will
add a new dimension of power and joy to your life which you
never thought possible. May God bless you abundantly as you
discover for yourself the beauty and grace of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer
The grace of the Lord Jesus.
The love of God.
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with me.
Amen.
