growth with four generations or more (2 Timothy 2:2).
The confidence barrier
Most attenders do not share the gospel because of fear. We are told
we have not received the Spirit of fear or timidity but have a Spirit
of love, power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Let us align our
hearts and minds with the truth of what God says about our state.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire overcomes our fear.
Experiencing the presence of Jesus is empowering and overcomes
fears. Taking every thought captive overcomes our fears. Keeping
in step with the promptings of the Holy Spirit overcomes our fears.
We can share because Christ Jesus is with us, for us, and he will
show us how. Jesus is faithful. He will show us the first step and
how to go about sharing the faith, the gospel and our story.
People go to one of two destinations.
Knowing in our hearts the reason we should reach out will push
us out of our comfort zones and have confidence. The reason we
should launch out is recorded in the most famous Bible verse in
John 3:16. Jesus says people go to one of two destinations: whoever
believes in God’s only Son, Jesus, has eternal life; those who do not
believe and reject him will perish. Jesus came not to condemn the
world but, through his cross, to save it – that is, give eternal life.
Some Christians do not believe that people perish or go to hell.
Some Christians do not believe hell exists. People make God in
their own image according to their likes or dislikes and personal
ideas about God and life. The Bible, the word of God, sets the truth,
not people, nor leaders nor clergy nor bishops nor governments
nor presidents. There is no gospel according to St Derrick or St
Steve.
