Foreword
Around two thousand years ago a man in his early thirties stood
trial in front of one of the most powerful men in the known world.
In the course of that exchange, a question was posed which has
echoed throughout the hearts and souls of countless men and
women, rulers and those ruled: ‘What is truth?’ The irony was that
truth was embodied in the person on trial – Jesus Christ.
The job of Christian communicators isn’t to paint people wonderful,
new pictures full of new colours and objects. Rather it is to be like
ophthalmologists – eye doctors – people who help us see clearly
what is already there. Andy works skilfully, standing Jesus in front
of us and confronting us with truth. He works on our eyes so we
can see him in sharper, clearer, more transforming focus. Andy
communicated the truth about Jesus to me personally when we
were students in 1975; it completely changed my life.
If you are a Christian this book will refresh your soul by showing
you Jesus again. If you have never seen Jesus clearly, you will
see him in these pages standing before you. And when our tired,
unseeing eyes are opened to glimpse him, he is indeed the most
beautiful sight for sore eyes.
With Jesus firmly in focus we are able to see the way ahead,
and Andy helps us see the pitfalls and hazards, the routes to the
mountain tops and high places. He gives us essential tools for the
journey and writes in such a way that we want to run with him to
keep up with God our Creator. And the most important thing about
all that he writes is that Andy Economides lives it.
